I was expecting to see Joba just go for less innings per start, since the Yankees bullpen seems to be in fairly good shape. Somehow the idea of continuing to use Mitre as a starter doesn't make sense to me.

How is resting Joba unfair to the fans? That doesn't make sense. And in any case, they pushed Joba back so Sergio Mitre wouldn't be facing the Red Sox. Sounds more than fair to the fans, unless you want his 7.04 ERA and 1.913 WHIP facing the team who is 5th in the majors in runs scored.
Joba's problems, against the Sox and against the Jays last night, are his own.

While this carries the usual SSS caveat, Joba's been just as good, if not better on extra rest this season. Not to say that he can't pitch on regular rest, but it doesn't appear to be hurting him too much. That first game out of the break, he had just as much rest as he did for the Boston game.

Protecting their best asset is stupid? The Yankees came into the season with a plan for Joba, and they are sticking to it. That takes guts, and it is the right move. Yankees fans complain about it, but just take a look at the team they play today. The Jays are known for being hard on their starters, and have a whole gaggle of them with career threatening injuries.

this idea of resting joba is not fair to the yankee team, joba and fans. he was in a groove since the all star game then the brainless trust of cashman and giradi sits him for 8 days before his next start. surprise he walked 6 or 7 batters? no command of his pitches at all. Then giradi states the extra rest didnt effect joba!!!!!
this is not just silly its stupid!
