FYI Brad Penny- You cant try to muscle belt high 94mph fastballs past big league hitters. Makes me sick. The only pitch he could “control” and I use that word lightly, was his fastball. His offspeed was an absolute crapshoot. I wouldnt even dare to use him in a semi-close game.

yeah he looked good in a start in boston too – “a” start. but everyone knows that the NL is a pitchers league. like guys in the sprint cup who can’t hack it but end up successful in the truck series. NL pitching stats don’t translate into AL stats – it’s that simple.

John Smoltz was really looking good against the Padres. Hopefully he can perform this well through the playoffs. It would be nice to see him get another ring.
