More Importsntly, CC has stank up the joint in each of his three postseasons, and Teixera although hitting enough singles to hit .400 had no extra base hits, and 1 rbi in his one “attempt”. The Stankees won the division from 2001-2007 and no rings.

Manny and Papi were also on the juice. No moral high ground to stand on there. Alex is a bust in the post season. But he at least gets you there. Perhaps this year he’ll show up after having a so so year.

Sounds like a lot of Yankee fans in denial that the Red Sox have anybody on their team above the high school level ability.
Reality… A healthy Dice-K would boost the SOX as the American League odds-on-favorite to be the League’s representative in the series.
Perhaps A-Rod can find some undetectable “juice” by then to change that…. But even thus, he is a no-show in post season.

Dice-K to the rescue?
He’s awful. Him coming to the rescue is like pumping water into the Titanic. That kind of rescue one can do without. Half a dozen times a game (in his five innings), he will throw a straight, fat fastball down the middle on his favorite 3-2 count. It is a wonder his numbers aren’t worse.

While it is true he walks way too many batters, he survives because he whiffs twice as many. It is also true he doesn’t go that deep because when you walk and strike out many batters, your pitch count is high. Still in 2007-2008 he averaged 6.1 ip per start.
All evidence is that he was pitching hurt this year. Last year he was 18-3 with a 2.90 era. He will definitely be better than Smoltz or Penny were, and that will help. It will also help if Wakefield returns.

Whats dice-K gonna do? Look at his numbers “before” he got hurt! They were terrible and even when this guy is doing well like last year he’s a 5 innings pitcher who walks a ton of guys and is always walking that fine line of getting shelled. Just face it he’s one of the biggest busts in baseball history when you consider the money they paid to get him!
