Isn’t there a rule that when players with multi-year contracts are traded they can declare free-agency the year after the trade? I seem to remember something like that existed a while back but it doesn’t seem to apply anymore. Or is that from another sport?

hotrod- The “caps lock” key is just a fraction of an inch from the “a” key. Not too difficult to turn off. Especially since you seem to be particularly drawn tot he “a” key. Try it. It will work wonders to make your future posts easier to read.
As far as Wagner goes, he should learn what so many have failed to. If you’re not named “Mariano Rivera,” you should just retire and call it quits at 38 years old.

This is good news that Billy is satying with the Mets. K-Rod is good, but Billy is just as good. Thing about 2010 having two of the best closes on the same team, if both stay healthy. If Wright, Beltran, Reyes, and Delgado are healthy 2010 could be sweet. The mets lacked field leadership this season with all the injuries. The subs did well.

I’m sure the fact that the desperate Sox rushed Smoltz, then immediately cut him is not lost on Wagner. It is in Wagner’s best interest to refuse the trade, rest his arm and wait for free agency.
