Apparently, some of you guys would rather start Penny than Wakefield, or Matsuzaka who is looking strong in his rehab and will be back soon. Fortunately, the Red Sox has management that prefers to win.

He will head back to the NL because it’s a pitcher friendly league and his ERA will will get lower and whoever signs him will pray they don’t need him in the WS if they make it because he will suck when facing the AL teams – just like Smoltz did. NL is where old pitchers go to hang their hats.

Will the Yankees look to add Penny since Joba is going to get cut off soon cause of regular season innings pitched. They grabbed that guy Gaudin. Why not try Penny too? Pitching seems to be the only area of the Yankees that could use any help and they don’t need much. Penny could be a long relief guy giving say 3 or 4 innings of support. He could also be that extra starter that covers a game, even a throw away game, to make sure the rest of the staff gets that extra rest in setup for the playoff run thru the world series.
Now wouldn’t that be sticking it to Boston even more if this guy goes 4-0 with a 1.25era the rest of the way, for the YANKEES!!!

Of course now he’ll probably get signed by the Cardinals and finish the year 4-0 with a 1.25 ERA.

You are so right — Brad will return just like a bad “Penny” and make the Sox look silly. Look at John Smoltz. His first outing with the Cardinals and he is sensational. Just what they needed for the pennant run. Well that was just what the Sox needed too, but he couldn’t deliver. I heard Smoltz say that he made a slight adjustment on the mound and that made the difference. Why didn’t he make it sooner? It never fails. Just watch what happens when Penny joins another team. With the Sox he was “spent”. But his new team will “cash in.”
