There’s actually going to be a playing time issue for Pie, it seems. Markakis and Jones are pretty well entrenched at this point, leaving Pie, Reimold, and Scott on the roster for left field, 1B, and DH. They’re trying Scott at first, and I suppose that makes Reimold the DH, though you hate to consign a 25 year old who has always been rated as a decent enough defender to such a position. Pie is an excellent defender, though, so even if he never quite hits like a prototypical left fielder the Orioles could have one of the best outfield defenses in baseball.
