But with all the pitchers everyone carries, he can’t be one of your 12 or 13 position players.
How about this:
Make him a coach next year who works out with the team all year, and promise to activate him on Sept. 1st (or earlier if they are beset with injuries and go in the tank.) Let him see there are no offers out there for him to be a starter and that this is his best option.
