he is a leadoff hitter. his job is to get on base & score runs..some stats just for you, hop. ichiro average runs@111. jeter average runs@120. case closed??

You act as if a OBP% of .378 is terrific, thats pretty good for a leadoff hitter, nothing terrific junior. He’s had a OBP% of .400 what? Once in his entire career? He doesnt take pitches and he doesnt walk which means he really isnt a good leadoff hitter, he’s overrated in the outfield and he has a .222 career average in the ALCS (highest level of postseason he ever reached) so he doesnt get it done when it counts. But hey i am glad seattle has him cause as long as he’s there i never have to worry about them being any kind of threat so keep em until he’s 50, please!

A double doesnt change the fact that well over 80% of his hits are singles and most of them dont leave the infield. Sorry it is what it is and he ain’t worth the 20MIL per year he gets

people compare Pedroia to Pete Rose http://bit.ly/pedroiaTV - so I think he could do it if he keeps up the consistency. he seems tough enough to maybe do it...but either way...Ichiro is probably the best hitter since Rose, whether he breaks it or not.

The real discussion should be whether Ichiro would be a threat to the all time hit record had he played his entire career in the majors.I believe he would as he is also very durable.

Ichiro’s 2,000th hit was a sharp double down the line. Franklin Gutierrez moved him to third on a perfect bunt, and Jose Lopez drove Ichiro in with a single. Sound baseball, with Ichiro getting things started. Judgment overruled.

If you love infield singles than ichiro is your guy, if you like your team to actually score runs and win the game than he is not. Case closed
