This isn’t really that big a deal. A team that might make the playoffs has to start to prepare for that contingency in advance. There’s no real harm in making sure things go smoothly if and when you make the playoffs. I hardly think the Sox are being presumptuous, risking jinxing themselves, or anything else really. Let’s move on.
