He wants Danny Valencia, a 3B at AAA who by all accounts is supposed to be the starter in 2010. Now that Morneau is out, Gardy also wants Brock Peterson, a 1B at AAA who can, ostensibly, hit.
Neither one is on the 40 man roster, which I assume is why the front office is reticent. On the other hand, when you have something called “Matt Tolbert” on your 40 man roster, you can be pretty sure you’re wasting some spots.
