I couldn’t agree more…I am a huge Yankee fan, but Posada acted like an idiot, he knew they threw at the Jays, so take your hits and leave it alone. he is quite a hot-head though And yes, they both deserved what they got.

Posada was wrong, wrong to jaw with Carlson and waaaaaaaay wrong with the cheapshot elbow.
Posada knows he was wrong but he snapped, it’s over.
As for Hothead, the Yanks started the drillfest so what did they expect ?
Just one more thing, in order to be a foot taller and 9o pounds heavier than Matt Stairs A-Rod would need to be 6’9″ and weigh about 310.

Yankee fan here- let’s face it, Posada was wrong. He called the pitches that hit 2 Blue Jays so he had to know what was coming. And he should’ve just taken his base instead of walking to the mound talking to Carlsson. That being said, there is no doubt that Carlsson was looking to continue the skirmish when instead of backing up the throw, like he should have, he loitered around the base waiting for Posada to come home. Posada deserves whatever discipline the league hands out, and Carllson deserved the beating!

Yeah uh.. not sure if you remember the Yanks vs Rangers game this year put Padilla (Rangers) plunked Teix every at bat (there is some history there, but you got to love his efforts to keep his pitch count low on IBB)
So Kinsler gets plunked in his at bat.
And you didnt see Young say a thing to Jorge or the pitcher. He just took his base.

I think someone should give Posada a baby bottle and a sucky blanket. Poor baby was upset that his team is down and can’t take it like a man. What he did was uncalled for and he should be suspended and lose his paycheck earnings for that game.

some recent history…not only did the yankees throw at 2 Jays before the posada incident, but during the last series, it was the same thing, except that the Jays did not retaliate.
not sure if the yankees pitchers throw at everyone or it’s just the Jays that worry them.

Seems like HOTROD (aka HOTHEAD) needs a life. First, baseball is a game, not a gang war. Second, given the silly history of retaliation that is prevalent in what is otherwise the least violent of major pro sports, it only stands to reason that Posada would never have been thrown at if two Jays players were not thrown at earlier.
What is worse than adults acting like children on a ball field is adults acting like children on these blogs who try to justify this nonsense.

you’re exactly right. carlson positioned himself for a confrontation and thats what he got. sure posada could have left it alone in the interest of not getting hurt/suspended for the playoffs but this is, and has always been, a part of baseball that i do not have a big problem with.
didnt see first hand but heard someone say arod avoided the fight like the swine flu, not wanting to get hurt. ok i understand that to a degree but i cant imagine not defending and standing up for my teammates in that situation. that’s been the knock on arod that he’s always thinking about himself and lacks the emotion and camaraderie that will make him a true yankee in the fans’ eyes…at least until he does something memorable in october besides wilt.

Bob, Bob, Bob… First of all, John Kruk and Chris Singleton on Baseball Tonight questioned Carlson’s positioning while “backing up” home. With a ball hit to right field he should’ve been on the 3rd base side and Posada knows that – so does Jim Joyce, for that matter – but there he is on the 1st base side. Hmmmmm – do ya think he knew what he was doing there? Should Posada have left things alone and just trotted home? Sure, but Carlson knows the deal and planted himself in the path to the dugout. I think it’s absurd that Joyce said Posada gave Carlson a cheap shot! It was a brush of the elbow that said: “Get the f*** out of the way – I know what you’re doing.” Once Joyce ejected him (bizarre move) and Carlson yelled at him, well, yeah, Posada went a little loco but Carlson was definitely pushing it with Posada and got some face candy as a consolation prize.
