Holy Cow! Stop the presses! An umpire called a strike a ball! I’ll bet that is the first time that has ever happened in the history of baseball! To the Angels, group the heck up. Bad calls are part of the game. As a Cardinal fan, I watched them lose a World Championship because an umpire missed a call at first base. The crew chief fell asleep in the 9th inning.
Bad umpiring is just the way it is. The Angels are toast in the playoff because of their complaining. It is the way it goes.

Of the coaches’ behavior, Reed said it was “unprofessional and unbecoming of a professional team. I would think a coach or two will be regretting his actions.”
what he did was also very unprofessional…he is supposed to call it right but he did not…

those umpires deserved to be verbally abused after a not so inspiring performance…they cheated the angels of a victory…two blown calls and they handed the game to boston…

The umpire should be fired. His explanation proves his inability to do the job he is paid to do. First he screws up, doesn’t call the pitch as he saw it, rather what he thought the catcher did. Then he bitches that the team he screwed had the nerve to tell him that he did just that. He belongs on the street, not in the ballpark.

Let’s not let the first base umpire off the hook either. The fact that he ruled “no swing” on the check swing a few pitches before ball four should also be questioned.

So let me get this straight: ump misses call costing team the game. Ump admits he missed the call. But ump complains that his victims, the Angels, took issue with the fact that he screwed up and cost them the game? Rick Reed has a lot of gall.
