Is that correct that RH hitters face more RH pitchers? I’m sure you have access to the data. That’s the matchup that the team in the field wants, and I know there are fewer platoon players these days. I remember the Roenicke/Lowenstein platoon well. I’m sure Lowenstein faced a lot of righties and Roenicke saw his share of lefties.
I also remember players like Rafael Palmeiro who would not be in the starting lineup against Randy Johnson (I know–a hard throwing lefty so it doesn’t apply so much in this instance).
I would imagine that most lefty hitters face predominantly RH pitchers–managers seem to avoid having them face LH hitters.
