Eli Whiteside has a career OBP of .237. He’s terrible.

Eli is a great catcher…he calls a great game, has a strong arm to throw out runners at 2nd and has a great raport with the pitchers. But yes, he has a average to below average bat to date. Buster is the future…but is that future behind the plate. Buster can play a few other positions…but he is primarily up for his batting. Now with the huge question mark around Angel Villalona (in jail) who was the next big bat behind Posey…there are very few power bats ready to make the transition from our farm system to the bigs. Bottom line is that Giants need to sign bats next year. Dump the old players like Bengie, Renteria, Rowand, Winn, Aurilia. See what we can do to keep Uribe as a 5/6 hitter. Sign Timmy and Matt to long term contracts…figure out what to do with Penny to a 2 year deal, but not at market rates since he would be a 4/5 pitcher. Did I say sign bats???

Whiteside is a decent backup at best. Move on Giants! It’s seems like a no brainer to play Posey

According to KLaw, his service clock has already started since he’s on the ML roster, so why not play him? Even funnier considering Klaw referred to Eli as Eli Downside.
