Thanks Grant. How did I forget Pierre and Andruw? I knew there was a reason I thought Coletti was Kevin Malone II.
Agreed that he has seemed to overcome the early mishaps, aided by their payroll.
I”m not sure who is responsible for the pre-2006 young talent (Kemp, Broxton, Loney, Martin, etc.) but, if it’s DePodesta, he should get a fair share of the credit (just like Gene Michael deserved for signing the core of the Yankees 1996-2000 team)

I believe he signed Juan Pierre, as well. The Blake trade was dumb. He signed Andruw to that two-year deal, which turned out to be a disaster.
Honestly, though, he seems to have recovered nicely from some early missteps. He has a ton of money to spend, but I suppose like the Yankees and Sox the ends sometimes justify the means. The ML team has been good, though of course sometimes Torre has made weird decisions about playing time, which is only a little bit Ned’s fault. I think giving him an extension is fine, though, since the team’s good again.

Agree on Minaya but not sure Coletti’s in his league.
Ol’ Ned’s track record doesn’t seem too bad…His first move was the Ethier – Bradley trade which turned out fantastic…Kershaw was his first #1 pick in 2006…the Manny trade got them a pennant…Kuroda hasn’t been amazing but he’s been a better bang for the buck than Dice-K or Igawa….Randy Wolf, Troncoso, Belisario, and Hudson were great pickups this year….
Is my memory shot or is he doing a pretty good job? (Note: I think the Blake for Carlos Santana trade will haunt them given that Russ Martin is fading fast…)
