I am ok with this and what Dave Mullen previously said is 100% correct. What I am pissed about is our elected political hacks getting police escorts to fund raisers that close off the major highways during a rush hour, just so they can help a crook...I mean politician get more campaign funding.
A police escort for a man to be with his wife for the birth of their 1st baby is ok with me when you compare this to the abuse by those elected officials that are supposed to be serving the general public, but only serve themselves.

It's really not that big of a deal. Craig, have you been to Philadelphia? Do you know the situation with the cops? There is enough at the ballpark to take Cole to a hospital that is 10 minutes away at the most. But good job trying to make Philadelphia look bad.

Re: Mirabelli getting a multiple police car escort to catch Tim Wakefield: I'm sure that if that use of taxpayer funds could be put to the people of Boston for a vote, it would've been approved overwhelmingly. Not that that makes it right, but in a democracy you get the government you deserve, not necessarily the one you need :-p

Not nearly as objectionable as when the Red Sox reacquired Doug Mirabelli from the Padres to catch Tim Wakefield because Josh Bard couldn't handle doing it. He got a multiple-car police escort through Boston at rush hour to make it to a REGULAR SEASON GAME that Wakefield was starting against the Yankees. It is hard to object to someone wanting to do his job (at a critical time no less) and then be there for his wife to give birth. Using two police cars to escort a backup catcher to the ballpark to catch a knuckleballer in the reagular season is a bit of a waste of resources. Not as bad as giving billions of dollars to billionaires, but still pretty bad.
