This is asinine criticism of Girardi.
1) When Swisher is cold, he's ice cold. White Sox fans know this too well.
2) Hairston hasn't had an AB versus Pedro since 2004, but doesn't that make his stats more impressive? Pre-2004 Pedro was a much more dominant pitcher. And for comparison, Johnny Damon's a career .200 .238 .200 hitter versus Martinez. Jeter's at .250 .345 .408.
Good move by Girardi, and a (hopefully motivated) Swisher will be the top choice to pinch hit later in the game.

Seriously, does this blog exist to piss people off or analysis -- because you come through with flying colors on the first and fail miserably on the second!
PS -- Why WOULDN'T you bench a player that isn't hitting?

10 for 27 is owning someone? What color is the air in the world you are from? Although a .370 lifetime average isn't to shabby, owning him is a little strong of a term to use

So basically, when the Yankees should be taking advantage of 1) having a good DH (versus stop-gap solution that NL teams have to employ) and 2) superior AL lineup (I'm a huge Phills fan and even I will conceed their line-up is stronger 1-9 (over a 162 game season)), Girardi has basically converted his team into an NL line-up...

Panic mode is a little extreme, don't you think? Harriston apparently owns Pedro Martinez (like the rest of Yankee Stadium). And, like you said, Jorge was already out as A.J.'s catcher.
