There won't be many moist eyes down here in Marlins Land at the departure of Hermida. We were kind of surprised that he didn't get cleared out last offseason along with fellow stiffs Mike Jacobs and Mike "Mrs. Misty" Treanor. His "potential" always dangled ahead of him like those strawberries we used to hang on fishing line from bamboo poles in front of hungry Galapagos tortoises when we were taken to ride them at the petting zoo as kids. He left me with the impression that he specialized in hitting home runs when it didn't matter and leaving runners stranded in scoring position when it did.
Maybe they'll replace him with someone who has fulfilled their potential, like...uh...Lastings Milledge.
