the green monster in Boston made the best left fielders look average... only one I ever saw that mastered the wall was Yaz... all others looked average... for example Jim Rice... even a great player like Rice was made to seem average by playing in front of the green monster... proof is in the time it took him to get to Cooperstown.
However, Cuddyer is no Rice and right field in Minnesota is no match for the Green Monster... 10.5 for this guy is outrageous, not to mention Minnesota has let better players go for less... someone took one too many bong hits in Minnesota.

How much does a corner outfielder who hits .276/.342/.520 with 32 HR, 34 2B, and 94 RBI normally cost on the free agent market? Right around $10M, right? More? And also, note that the Twins really need that bat to be right handed, given that their best 4 hitters are Mauer/Morneau/Span/Kubel, who are all left handed hitters.
Cuddyer's defensive numbers are almost always bad, but I don't know how much I trust that; he has a great arm, and sure seems to get to a reasonable number of balls out in RF. Is it possible that his defense is undervalued because he plays RF for the Twins, and the baggy plays a role in confusing the defensive metrics? (I've read that the green monster at Fenway has/had a similar damping effect on LF-defense numbers for Boston's players.)

"..Cuddyer simply isn't worth that kind of money, especially with his below-average defense in right field..."
Maybe he's not worth that much but below average defense is a bit of a stretch. He has the one of the best and most accurate arms in MLB outfield. BTW I think he was the Twins MVP down the stretch.
