		<description><![CDATA[Why not both?  A few years ago the Brewers had Brooks Kieschnik (sp?), who could come in as a pinch hitter and stay in to pitch an inning of relief, or vice-versa.  Owings is probably better on both sides of the ball.
Break down his $1mil salary like this:  RH power bat off the bench: $500k.  Long reliever, possibly has the stuff to work the late innings: $500k.  You&#039;re basically giving your manager 26 roster spots.  This probably isn&#039;t realistic for a legit contender, but it could be great for the Reds or another middle-of-the-pack NL team.
Besides, the fans love it.]]></description>
