Well, if you think Kevin Gregg had a tendency to give up gophers in 2009, you should see what he looked like down here with the Feesh in 2008. Not just gophers - Pleistocene gophers whose holes were big enough to break a mastodon's ankle. Grand slams, three-run dingers, walk-off jobs galore - and all this usually after putting all the guys who scored ahead of the big bopper on base. It was as if he had found a way to signal the batter, "where would you like this next flat curveball?" As a Feesh fan - albeit estranged by irreconcilable differences with the team's parasitic ownership - I wouldn't mind seeing home go to another NL East team.
As far as Kiko Calero, what else is new? He came to the Marlins as a reclamation project, panned out reasonably well, and now is following so many of his friends and neighbors into the baseball sunset because penny-puckered owner Loria and his little poodle of a President - oddly named after a muscle bound hulk from the Bible - won't caugh up what would still be bargain money to keep him despite a bullpen otherwise full of professional arsonists.
