Allow a moment of sentiment. I always liked Chip Carey as a Cubs announcer. Sure, he was only there because of his father and grandfather, and announcers are generally interchangable (and interchangably bad). But his years announcing with Steve Stone, once Stone returned from his Arizona retirement, were the best post-Harry Carry years the Cubs had.
The Cubs then royally screwed Chip and Stone by firing them for having the guts to criticize the team during one of their many underachieving seasons. Dusty Baker pitched a fit and was dead wrong.
I was disappointed with Carey during the postseason and I'm sure there are other, better options for TBS. But I hope he catches on somewhere. If nothing else, he loves the game, and that can't be faked.

Jim Powell teamed up with Don Sutton to do most of the Braves games on radio. I enjoyed the pairing a lot and hope that they are on Peachtree / TBS / Sportssouth this coming season. Powell had a lot of the same pleasure at the game combined with rather biting humor Braves fans missed with the passing of Skip Caray.
Boog Sciambi was knowledgeable and clearly enjoyed being at the park. I'm glad to see him get a bigger stage, but suspect that his approach works better if you can hear him 5 days a week rather than 10 times a year.
I won't miss Chip Caray a bit and hope that he takes Joe Simpson with him.

Adios! It is clear that in this case, the apple did fall quite far from the tree. Listening to him during the playoffs was painful to say the least. And I gotta agree with Kevin, can we please put McCarver into retirement? But really, I am not sure that the expression "Chip Caray fisted" is appropriate here. At least the visual popping into my head is incredibly ugly, but maybe it's just my own warped mind at work.
