What a great move! They got their utility infielder. Now if they can just fill some small holes like 2 or 3 starting pitchers,some bullpen help, left field, right field, catcher, 1st base and 2nd base, they should run away with the division! Start printing the playoff tickets!

Cora was one of the Mets’ best players this eason. $2 million is a bargain for him! It doesn’t look like anything is changing this offseason in Queens, if this is any indication.

Cora impressed me with how much he was able to tough it out last season. That doesn’t make him much more than a decent player, but I am glad to see him come back.

I’d like to quote something here because it seems fairly relevant:
“…he ended up with more than 300 plate appearances for the first time since 2004 despite playing through torn thumb ligaments in both hands.”
“…batting just .251/.320/.310 while making 54 starts at shortstop and another 13 at second base, but as far as utility infielders go Cora is a decent one.”
He batted “just” .251 with TORN THUMB LIGAMENTS IN BOTH HANDS! The fact that he hit the ball went further into fair territory than the bat should be considered a victory.
