Obviously the Dodgers are going to have to give raises out over the next few years to their young players, which is a good thing because it means they are performing. At the same time they will save 16 mill plus from retiring Jason Schimdt this year, 8 mill or so on Orlando Hudson, several more million from not retaining some unnecessary overpriced back-up veterans, 20 mill next year by not bringing back Manny Ramirez. And they can save 8 mill plus by trading Juan Pierre. They have good young players to bring up to stay competive and that is what they should do instead of blowing their money on overpriced veterans.

I guess the Dodgers do have problems this offseason, both on and off the field. Players like Ethier, Loney, Broxton, Kemp, and Martin deserve raises this coming season. After all they are the nuclious (sp?) of their team and the team's future. They also have the decision to make whether they try to resign Manny Ramirez or let him go to another team. Manny is the man who prompted the players listed above to mature into who they are today. His bat is also needed. This coming season would be a complete season. His first season was the last half of 2008 and last season he had his "suspension" to deal with. If they give these players the money they deserve, you might have a championship team in Los Angeles again. Of course you have the McCourt's family problems to deal with also. Whatever happens there it is going to hurt the team somehow. I have "Dodger Blue" flowing through my veins and have had since 1958. Go Dodgers

Would like to see the Rangers go for it in '10, they showed some life for a while. But aren't they under the same "payroll restrictions", if not more, than any number of other teams? It's beginning to seem that there is a real preponerance of MLB that are trying too hard to buy right, which means no improvements to their obvious needs.
"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing". Oh, wait, I'm arguing against my own case here.
