Jon Heyman tweets that Jason Marquis and the Rockies had a falling out over “his reaction to him not getting playoff start” so he’s not likely to accept the arbitration offer he got from Colorado. I’m guessing the reaction involved a flaming bag of dog poop on Jim Tracy’s porch. Whatever the case, his departure would give the team a supplemental pick in the draft.
As for Marquis: the Mets are reportedly still considering him. Aside from the New York connection, there’s no danger of him being passed up for a playoff start there, so everyone should get along nicely.

Not totally unexpected, Marquis was really picked up to make up for the loss of Jeff Francis to off-season surgery last year. If Francis is back (and I devoutly hope so), Marquis is surplus to requirements.

Jason is a great pitcher, he has always had great stats the first half of the season, and after the all star break has always gone into a second half slump. I believe it is all psychological because he just gets homesick. He is from New York, and loves playing before the home town crowd, including hitting a grand slam against the Mets a couple seasons ago in New York. If he ends up with the Mets, you may see him surpass all expectations
