Hey! Thom is not so bad; ask long-time Reds fans. George Grande had become stale, we all knew it, and accept the change. The real problem is Chris "know's everything" Welsh. He trashes the team (at best middle-of-the-road talent-wise)for not living up to his grandiose dreams of winning championships. We all like winning, but if I was trying to build a ballclub the last thing I would want is a "flunky" like Welsh whose negative rants keep the fan base discouraged and absent from the ballpark night after night. Yes, winning would put butts in the seats. But with greater revenue the team could aquire better talent and hold on to it longer. The Reds are a small market team that cannot ignore economic facts even if Chris Welsh does carry-on like a high-schooler. He'd sound more authentic alongside the beer-infused "fans" that families have to put up with when they do have an opportunity to go to the park than he does from the broadcast booth.
