Have they considered anybody under 38 years old? This team needs to get younger, not older. No disrespect to Matsui, as a Yankee fan I love the guy, but he is exactly what the Mets DO NOT need right now, and aging player, 2 knee operations a year ago, no mobility to play where? Outfield? 1st Base? Yhe braves are improving, the Phillies are improving, and the Mets are looking to start a Senior League team. How about rebuilding this franchise with some youth, athleticism, and defense?

Great. All they need to do is re-sign Sheffield and Delgado, and sign Matt Stairs, and they’d have a softball team that would clean up. Hope their Workers Comp policy is paid up.

Well, let’s face it: a team with a bunch of catchers who can hardly catch or hit would be nicely complemented by an outfielder who can’t run.
Why do I think that the Mets front office must have been out on a drinking binge with the Toronto Feather Lice’s front office at the winter meetings? Those decision-making meetings at both offices must have resembled the restaurant restroom scene from Cassavete’s Husbands.
