The Jays can start rebuilding with the extra salary room. The Yankees – they have boatloads of cash so that is not a problem, and can play Vernon in left and hope his bat recovers somewhat and he can still cover center/right when needed. And they have Roy and don’t lose Phil/Joba/whoever… Seems like a win/win to me.
