It can bring down your offline selling prices too if you get it terminated right. While there are many signs that the Dodgers have money issues this, I’d argue, isn’t necessarily one of them. It would actually be a smart move, imho. Why not trade Sherrill while his value is super high and in demand as a solid lefty reliever (and Pierre if they can) when the Dodgers have quite a few young (and yes, cheaper) lefty options like Kuo, Elbert, etc. If they can unload both those guys for young prospects, who cares if it’s a sign of money issues or not — it’d actually be smart.
Which is why it probably won’t happen. :-/

The Dodgers have plenty of very good relievers so a trade for Jackson or some good young talent would make sense.

The Marlins have won two MLB world championships in the last twelve years. The Dodgers have a record much better than most teams over the last five years. Winning speaks for itself no matter how much people try criticize you.

The Dodgers as the Marlins of the west coast. It boggles the mind. Maybe the San Andreas will turn from a slip-strike fault to a subduction zone just long enough to swallow the McCourt’s beachfront mansion with him in it and restore the world to normalcy.
