Willmose, What major hip surgery, A-Rod had an athroscopic procedure and during an evaluation this season his doctor said he most likely would not require the more invasive procedure that they originally thought he would. There are no other teams that are as solid at 3b than the Yankees, A-Rod has absolutely NOTHING left to prove, he is and always has been a winner!

If the Yankees are prepared to part ways with Matsui then DeRosa would make a great addition. He would allow the Yankees to rotate the DH spot between Damon (if they bring him back), Arod, Jeter and Posada while not losing too much in the lineup. If Damon signs elsewhere then it makes even more sense.

actually we keep hearing that the Yankees want to keep DH flexible for ARod, Jeter, Posada, LF. This would fit perfectly in their plans, no? Giving regular rest to everyone. Not saying I'd do it, but that has to be the rationale.

The only thing that comes to mind when reading this is that they maybe looking at putting Cano in a package for Roy Halladay and signing DeRosa as a stop gap until one of the younger guys is ready. I don't think I would do it as Halladay is too old to take a chance on and get rid of Cano!
