I do NOT understand this thinking whatsoever!!!! Yes, he threw a no hitter...TWO YEARS AGO...AGAINST THE LOWLY KANSAS CITY ROYALS!!!! He's not going to be any better than he has been the past 2 years SINCE the no-hitter. That will forever be the highlight of his career. And we're not going to trade for Halladay so we can keep a mediocre pitcher in the lineup?!?!?!?! I'm sick of watching the spankees making all of these moves to improve their lineup and to increase their payroll while we sit on our hands acting like we'll still be competitive if we don't make a counter move...so frustrating as a Sox fan...

Halladay already approved a trade to the Angels last season. It fell apart when the Angels refused to part with Aybar.
It feels as if the "not approving an Arizona spring training" thing is a rumor that got legs. I'd be surprised to find out that Doc was willing to limit his potential earnings based on where a team worked out for six weeks a year.

They turned up their nose at a very good offer from the Phillies. Instead the Phillies took Cliff Lee at far less than they offered the Jays and they struck it rich, giving them a second straight NL Pennant and a world series berth. Some teams are stuck on stupid.

Given that he's been pretty adament about not approving a deal to any team that doesn't train in Florida, that kind of eliminates the Angels - unless Doc changes his mind about that stipulation.
