On what planet was Ellsbury better than Granderson last season

A fair amount of RS are saying the same thing. Cameron for one year, maybe two, at $8M per, makes more sense than $60M/4 for Bay, especially considering the two picks. I was hoping Seattle would ink Bay, and we’d land the #16, if that’s what they have.
For all the talk about Granderson, there is virtually no difference between him and Cameron in terms of OPS+. Both nice players, neither is Willie Mays.

Cameron had 15 more points of OBP last year, and if you look at righty/lefty splits, I think you’ll see what Matt meant by “well-rounded.” Granderson is a good player, but is really, really terrible against lefties. Cameron is a good player who hits both hands well, while not hitting righties as well as Granderson does.
It’s a fair thing to say. He wasn’t talking about the money they make in terms of trade, only that the Red Sox would be interested because they’d only have to offer him a short-term deal (and he IS old).

Cameron is more well rounded how? fatter? Yah…otherwise he hits for a lower average, fewer homers, many fewer steals, K’s more, worse defense by a tick, doesn’t hit triples like Granderson does and at 37 could collapse at any time like most CF do at age 35-38, plus he makes DOUBLE what Granderson does…Yah I guess all those zeroes on his check are more well rounded….sportswriters are generally idiots.
Ellsbury is a one trick pony…it’s a nice trick but no one would trade what the Yankees did for Granderson for Ellsbury…because he’s not worth what Granderson is, and it was just proven in that trade.
Oh for two on the analysis, just what I would expect from a hack EC sportswriter

Cameron is the more rounded player than Granderson? HUH? He’s a lot older and is a strikeout machine!! And Ellsbury has no power and doesnt get on base nearly enough for a leadoff guy. Amazing

Not to worry J-Bay can not go anywere. The other teams do not want that poor a feilder and thrower, at such a high $$ figure. Ya he and Wille Mo Pena can pound the ball. But if ya stink at feilding & hit around the .250 mark. Bye bye, No big money long term contract for you.

Matt, that’s the initial asking price. They asked for Hughes and AJax from the Yanks initially. And that was for BOTH Grandy and Edwin Jackson.
