The world is made for people who aren't cursed with self-awareness

Case in point, Jim Bowden, who just said this on Sirius radio about the Pudge Rodriguez deal:

“Following in the footsteps of Paul Lo Duca and Dmitri Young, another bad [signing] by the Nationals.”

That’s former Nats GM Jim Bowden. The man who signed both Lo Duca and Young.  I sure hope he had his tongue placed in his cheek for that one.

I heard him say it live, and it was funny because he said it with a chuckle… and also, I believe, added a “…besides me” to the end of it.
    Self-deprecation at its finest.

Alzheimers is a TERRIBLE disease. I think Jim Bowden should team up with Peter Angelos in Baltimore, that would assuredly be the straw that breaks the camels back. What a Loser!!

Its comments like this that should remind people just how badly Bowden treated this franchise for the past few years, and why pundits need to give us a break for a few more years while we try to basically start over.
Not to mention how badly MLB ran the franchise into the ground, or the fact that Loria was allowed to gut the team of its entire scouting staff resulting in a couple years of just abhorrent drafts.
Lo Duco: 1yr $5M, released 8/1/08. Estrada 1yr $1.5M released a week prior to that. In the face of those two contracts, getting a future hall of famer in a stated backup role for 2yrs $6M really looks cheap.
