I agree with the Yankees rejecting this trade. Melky is more than servicable in CF for another year while the Yankees see if Jackson is going to pan out. Let's be honest, A-Jax is 6 years younger than Granderson who only hit .249 this year while A-Jax was hitting .300, even though it was only AAA. A-Jax in 6 years will be far better than Granderson is now. Personally, I'd platoon A-Jax and Melky in CF and Nady and Swisher in RF and sign Holliday to play LF. Even if the reports are true that the Yankees are looking to reduce payroll, taking Matsui and Damon off the payroll and giving Pettite a paycut would more than cover signing Holliday.

I just got done posting comments on this on another thread. Good for the Yanks, don't do it!!! It does not make sense to give away the entire farm system and major league level guys for a good not great outfielder. Relax on Kennedy he had an anyuresm in his throwing arm that required surgery, he has not had a bona fide shot at the rotation yet. A-Jax is a top notch prospect who has not gotten a chance, if we gave Melky a chance we should give A-Jax one. The prospects that are headed back to the Yanks are obviously behind our prospects in development or the Diamonbacks would not be willing to part with them. So again I ask, "Why give away our farm system and Major leaguers to get a good not great outfielder? Stay patient Cash there are still good outfielders out there to be had and Damon is still in waiting. Trading one or two prospects o.k., but don't sacrifice everyone.

Why are so many so hung up on Granderson? The man can't hit lefties at all and is coming off a poor season. Sure, Jackson isn't in the same class as Montero, Hughes or Joba prospect-wise, but I am told the drop-off from A-Jax to next prospect is pretty steep. Why surrender one of your prized prospects for a someone who really isn't that special?

I think now is the only time of year when you know what Brian and Joe REALLY think of relief pitchers- Bruney gone, Coke and Kennedy (an alleged starter).TigersfanRob would not like a Granderson trade, but doesn't think he's the greatest thing since Bernie Williams either.
Let's just re-sign Johnny and forget the outfield unless we want to play mind games with a certain other team about Holliday.

Kennedy has no likely role for the NYY in 2010, at least. Coke is a situational lefty who is replaceable. Dunn???
Maybe AJax becomes Curtis Granderson. Maybe not.
Less likely that Curtis Granderson becomes Austin Jackson.
If I were the NYY, I'd do the deal.
Plus, there'd be prospects heading back to NY in this deal, too. Just not yet identified.
