Sox will regret giving up on Getz for the “average” Teahen. Beckham was a good 3B and Getz was adequate at 2B. With Visquel around they Sox had the infield covered without Teahen.
I hope Eric is right and that Teahen’s defense will improve once he is a regular 3B.

Who has the “prevalent notion” that Teahen is an impact player? Only Kenny Williams that I know of.

I figured it would be worth it to note that Teahen’s field might have suffered from not playing any one position regularly over the course of his career. The guys been a DeRosa-esque trooper in that he’s played several positions on a regular basis without ending up on the DL for emotional problems.
Secondly, its also worth noting that he’s been playing his home games in a pitcher’s park and he’s now moving to a stadium that’s notorious for being a home run haven.
I’m not saying he’ll be a superstar, but I definitely think the stability of playing every day at 3b and the move to a park with hitter friendly tendencies could make him a nice sleeper for my fantasy team next year.
