The worst thing about the Jacobs trade was that they dealt a closer-worthy inexpensive guy in Nunez, then went and got Kyle Farnsworth for 2 years, 9.25 million. No wait, the worst thing was that they spent all that money to block Kila Kaaihue, who has nothing left to prove in the minor leagues. Well, maybe the worst thing was that Mike Jacobs doesn't even have "fall-down" range at first, since he falls so slowly and catches so badly, he has about 70% of fall-down range.
Jacobs reminds me of another no-bat no-glove first baseman ... actually there aren't any of those, are there?

Feesh fans got to watch Jacobs turn groundouts into doubles for a couple of years down here in Macondo, but we always thought he would shape up eventually. When the Feesh brought him over from the Mutts he was still a highly touted recent EYP (Exciting Young Prospect) in the Jeremy Hermida mould (mold?), oozing potential like an infected shrapnel wound. The Feesh are really big on "potential" (which I suppose is not really quite the same thing as being big on "latency;" I've never heard a prospect referred to as being a "latent" star). Macho neocon environment down there, and all, plus, you don't pay for "potential" while it's still merely...uh...latent. However it goes, neither Jacobs nor Hermida panned out, but Leo Nunez worked OK as a setup man and closer for a team whose payroll looks like it was calculated at WalMart.
