The Sox are likely done for the day

Dec 10, 2009, 9:35 AM EDT

The Boston Globe’s Amalie Benjamin — who probably doesn’t sleep given that she was tweeting at, like, 3AM but was walking around here working when I got here at 8:30 A.M. this morning — notes that most of the Red Sox front office contingent has already left Indianapolis.

Thus endeth a rather quiet Winter Meetings for Boston.

With all the moves and none moves thay have made here. Yes it is an understatment to say “The Red Sox are ALL DONE”….

OK, you get to quit your job and write about baseball. Sure, you get to go to the winter meetings. No need for me to be too jealous. But now you’re saying you get to meet Amalie Benjamin?

To be clear: I did not meet Amalie Benjamin. She worked two rows ahead of me in the press room all week, and I saw her walking around all the time — remember; she’s one of the damn few women baseball writers around, so she sticks out — but I did not meet her or introduce myself to her or anything.
And to be honest, I’ve never watched a Sox game on NESN, so I only really knew her as a name in the Boston Globe before this week and thus don’t have any of the fanboy fantasies some of you may harbor.
Not that it would unreasonable to harbor them. In my detached, professional opinion.
