Bay is going to get a deal, but it will not be significantly above what is om the table. When it gets to the point of being close to “Holliday money”, teams will simply call Boras and make the offer to Holliday. Bay will get a great contract and it will be with the Sox, Mets, or Mariners.

This is really fun. They're going to have Bay feeling like Kirk Gibson before this is over. All these teams offering this guy contracts they must know he'll shoot down. You have to wonder if this isn't just some new, post-prosperity form of "collusion" coupled with a touch of Russian roulette: under the "cynical ploy" scenario outlined below, none of these teams really wants the guy, but he's gonna wind up choosing one whether it wants him or not. Then what will the....Mutts do? They'll feel like the board members of that advertising agency at the beginning of Putney Swope.
