Church is exactly the kind of player the Feesh love – susceptible to a one-year contract and an opportunity to “prove” themselves again, yet still with middle decent numbers and still full of “potential.” And you know what happens to guys who come down here: they put up a career year and then go to a real baseball team someplace else. It’s still pretty conservative down here, what with all the…uh…Caribbean bad memories and all, but even with Elian heading up the Young Communists League back home, sometimes the Feesh look like a collective farm for the rest of baseball. Like Margo sings, “Irony, oh irony, it is never lost on me.”
