I can’t wait for Damon to move on. All year he said he wanted to stay and play.
The demon seed(Boras) injected his brain WITH POISON AND NOW HE’S STUCK IN STUPID.
If he thinks the Yankees will give him 3/13mm ea he needs to go,he’s a mercenary now!!

Getting 2 years and 20 million for Damon would be a ridiculous contract.

Damon is not a ‘competitor’. He’s no different than Boras. He’s after the money, and that’s his main concern.
If he was really a ‘competitior’ and not interested in the money, he would still be in Kansas City. Where he told all the fans and media that he wanted to stay and be a Royal for life, but only if they paid way more than he knew they would. He made himself out to be the wronged party, and blamed the Royals for his trade to Oakland, saying they wouldn’t make an effort to keep him even though he wanted to stay.
If he had really wanted to stay, he would have. But he went for the money. And that’s what he’s doing now.

Exactly JBerardi, its part of negotiating tactics Cashman and the Yankees organization know it all too well. The Yanks obviously want Damon to come back if they didn’t (like they didn’t with Abreu) it would be obvious. Also lets not forget Damon wants to come back to the Yank’s as well. Lets face it Damon just turned 36yrs old and getting a 2yr 8mil/yr deal is a fair contract. Damon is a competitor and wants to win. He very well could close out his career with the Yanks… who know… he may get a 3yr. with less $$ but with options…. you never know with Boras..

but Boras acts as though he’s negotiating from a position of strength with Damon. He’s not. Not only did they get Granderson, they can get Matsui to fill the DH slot for less money than Damon (and just as good results, more or less). He did the same thing with Manny last year, kept trying to get a better contract even though no one was bidding for his services. Boras will lose this one. He’ll be lucky to get Damon 2 years at 20 million-and it won’t be with the Yanks.

It’s called negotiation. You start by asking for more than you realistically expect to get. Boras’ tends to be a bit over the top in regards to this tactic, but can you argue with his results?
