Out of breath at 3500 feet? Good thing Grilli never played for the Colorado Springs Sky Sox. They play at about 6000.

Well, I’m just happy to hear that Fresno wasn’t the worse place he’s ever played. And he was apparently on the team in 1999, when they were still new to the town and playing at Fresno State’s Beiden Field. It’s a decent college park, but a pathetic AAA venue. The new stadium is nice, at least (or it was, last I saw it).
I always likened being from Fresno to being a Bundy. Sure, it’s miserable but that doesn’t mean outsiders get to bash on it too.

Craig, how would you feel about pitching at 3,500 feet above sea level where you run out of breath after two innings (hell, even Farley Mowat can’t finish a reading at the local bookstore without taking a hit from his oxygen bottle) and what would be a fly ball to short center field in most other places lands on the porch of the Banff Springs hotel, or where the “chili” on the chili dogs is mostly gravel and tar sand? Some poet or other once wrote of Calgary that it would be “a great town once they got it out of the crate.” That’s not much to speak of, but it’s probably more complimentary than anything that’s been said about Miami since the condo bubble burst.
