I heard Torrealba's people kept trying to use Pudge's deal as precedent. What's the difference between Yorvit and Pudge? Pudge is 5th all time at nabbing runners stealing (something like 47%). Yorvit last year....14%. Yorvit finished the season with a hot bat, but as long as Iannetta doesn't flounder at the plate in a 3 month slump the Rockies will be fine without him.

Or maybe they never actually offered a guaranteed $5.6m. They just signed Ianetta to a longer contract, buying out his arb years. They aren't looking for a starter, they are probably looking for an 80 or 60 games a year guy.
