The hockey rink in Fenway Park

Dec 16, 2009, 12:40 PM EDT

If you’re curious what the ice rink for that New Year’s Day game between the Bruins and Flyers in Fenway Park is going to look like, here’s a pic, courtesy of Amalie Benjamin of the Boston Globe.

I hope that the guys have a pool set up that will pay out for shots off the Monster.

I Think the Bruins might oughtta check the extended forecast for BeanTown. Could be they’ll want to procure a supply of roller blades for this contest. Has the NHL ever postponed a game due to “warmth”?

And you’re going to VIEW this contest from above the Green Monster?

More important than the NHL game will be the game that takes place the following week: the defending national champion Boston University Terriers vs. the previous year’s national champions, the Boston College Eagles.
Believe me that game will be 100x more interesting, and I’d even venture to say a bigger deal locally, than the Bruins game.
We’re talking about a team (BU) that came back from a two-goal deficit with LESS than a minute remaining in the championship game last April, versus their biggest and most hated rival, in a town that loves hockey & loves Fenway. This is what people should be excited for; this will be epic.
    Go BU.
