speaking of Seattle (yeah, I know, that was a bit of a stretch, but I had to figure out a way to bring this to your attention, Craig)...Geoff Baker of the Seattle Times, the Gatekeeper of all that is good and holy on the Internet, has taken umbrage yet again at the content of a blog. This time it's USSMariner, and when Geoff gets called out for his defensiveness in the comments section, he just gets more...more "Geoff-like", I suppose. check it out, if you're bored (after the fun of the last couple of days): http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/marinersblog/2010531950_not_landing_rich_harden_might.html

I don't think Matt Holliday is an ideal fit in Baltimore to be honest. Baltimore has a very fine and capable young outfield already set for years to come. Baltimore needs a slugging first baseman in a major way, and major improvements need to be made with the teams pitching. The moves for Milwood and Gonzallez have both made fantastic sense and each makes the team better.
When the teams young starters pan out the rest of the league is going to be in awe. There is allot of young talent in Baltimore, and the payoff from rebuilding the old fashioned way is coming. Why nOt? 2010

Well, at least by pretending to be interested, they make it easier for Boras to inflate Holliday's asking price on the pretext of all the competition there is for him out there. Perhaps the Aureoles are hoping that the Borg, with their newfound sense of fiscal discipline, and the Beanbags, with their newfound ineptitude, will then take a pass and Matt will stay with the Cardinals. You can think too much in this business, assuming your name isn't Bud Selig.
