Good News for Red Sox Nation! Mikey Lowell is one of the finest, consumate profesionals to everwear a Red Sox uniform and to give him up for a bag of peanuts and to have to pay the lion share of his salary was absurd!!
KEEP MIKE LOWELL IN BOSTON and even if he is a part time third baseman and part time DH he will bring the intensity and profesionalism to help win a third championsip in six years!!

Good for the Rangers. There was something fishy about this deal. Although many Red Sox fans considered Lowell to be a team hero, there was a lot of negative press that came out of the Red Sox camp after the deal was announced that suggested Lowell actually had some clubhouse issues. I was curious why the Red Sox were so willing to deal him. Then, it turns out he has a hidden injury. Something was wrong with this deal from the beginning, and the Rangers were wise to avoid what may be damaged goods.

The best thing now is that Lowell is hurt and Needs an operation. Yes, this is true. Thay can now waite till any time from after the first of the year and as late as spring training to see if he heals
on his own.
Why waite, you say?? Money, all about the money. And Maybe roster spot.
Ok, on March if his thumb has not fully healed and still needs the slice and dice thing ya do it. 6-8 weeks on the DL. Yes the 30 day or 60 day DL. Roster spot open, Medical paying a the first part of the money owed him. He is asigned to Advanced Spring training with all the systen trainers there working to get him back into the best playing shape he can be in.
Now it is the middle to the beging of May/June and players are starting to get hurt. You have an ex-ws-MVP. Fully healded and in great shape to trade or use as needed.
Just one way to do it and look good to the fans. Save the owners $$$. Look like you got your head on stright.

I’m a Red Sox fan and I don’t take this as great news. In fact, it’s really bad news and it’s going to hold up, scotch, or make more expensive whatever next move the braintrust had planned to settle the 1st base situation. And believe me, Casey Kotchman isn’t even Plan “C”.
Sox fans like to go on and on about what a great team guy Mikey Lowell is. Let’s not forget that he couldn’t bother to get his thumb fixed in October, the way a professional would do it.

this is great news for red sox fans. Sox were going to pay $9 million of his $12 million salary - so the trade rejection is only going to cost the Sox $3 million more than they had hoped. Lowell should be good insurance for DH in case Ortiz goes to crap again.
