This proposed deal makes no sense, though. The Reds got some salary “relief” in the extended/restructured deal with Rolen (a high salary for whom they traded last year for little good reason other than to get rid of Encarnacion), and this wouldn’t help all that much. Sherrill is good, but not good enough to make this worthwhile for Cincinnati.
