The Mets make their move!!

Dec 22, 2009, 2:41 PM EDT

Granderson? Vazquez? Halladay? That’s all you got Yankees and Phillies?  How about Dickey, babies? As in R.A., the knuckleballer, who the Mets are about to sign.

Dickey is a knuckleballer. Knuckleballers rule. Ergo, the Mets are now the favorites to win the NL East, the NL Pennant, the World Series and the forthcoming battles against the Martians.

Hurry up and renew your season ticket packages before the lines get too long, Mets fans!

Let’s see. Do we want a guy on the downside of a HOF career (P.Martinez) who would probably do a fine job shoring up the middle to back of a rotation, or a guy on the downside of a career where he’s bounced back and forth between 5th starter and long reliever for a string of crappy teams?

except that Dickey won’t/isn’t demanding $7.5m.
    Ergo.

Nothing like Omar trying to steal the Universe thunder!

    Mets fans must be puking.
    Dessens, Everts, Dickey…
    Who? Who? And what?
Omar and Jerry can’t be around much longer, not if they want changes.

” How about Dickey, babies? ”
Did you really just say that?

I assume you aren’t counting the AL Central Division Champs in that list of crappy teams. He was fun to watch, but was poorly managed by Gardentool last season.

  7. D-Luxxx - Dec 22, 2009 at 5:35 PM

That isn’t to say this is a good signing, though.

There are two types of people in this world: people who like knuckleballers and a-holes. Which one are you?

  9. Craig Calcaterra - Dec 22, 2009 at 7:18 PM

I love knuckleballers. No lie. Do a Google search for “ShysterBall” (my old blog) and “knuckleballer” and you will find nearly three solid years of love.
But despite my love for them, you’re not going to convince me that the Mets are making good moves this winter . . .

it’s not minaya’s fault. his hands are tied. i am sure if minaya was given the freedom, he’d go after every big name talent he is permited to bu/trade. Problem is the Wilpins half-ass everything.

My hot stove suggestion: put Mets management on a large hot stove and turn up the heat. We will then at least know, from their reaction, whether they’re still alive.

i refuse to buy tickets thats how we get back at them….don’t buy tickets.
