D'Backs add Bob Howry on a one-year deal

Bob Howry headshot.jpgNick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports that the Diamondbacks have come to terms with reliever Bob Howry on a one-year deal with a club option for 2011. The contract, believed to be in the area of $2-3 million, is contingent upon a physical.

Howry, 35, tallied a 3.39 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 46/23 K/BB ratio in 63 2/3
innings (63 games) with the Giants last season. One of the game’s most
durable bullpen arms, he has made at least 63 appearances in each of
the last five seasons. The Arizona-native has a 3.36 ERA over 12 career
seasons.

Howry is yet another new piece for A.J. Hinch’s bullpen, as the
D’Backs picked up right-hander Aaron Heilman from the Cubs for a pair of minor leaguers in November.
