"a 1 year, $ 5M deal to "rebuild" interest in Beltre."
I figure the same thing is going to happen, but I can't imagine Beltre or Boras think that's going to happen in Oakland.

I'd be shocked if Beltre came to the A's also. The Crisp deal, which makes very little sense (unless you believe Beane's setting him up for a mid-season trade for more prospects) at least fits the A's revenue structure (one year @ $ 5M).
A Beltre deal could not happen unless Boras has received zero interest in Beltre at anything close to his asking price and is willing to do a 1 year, $ 5M deal to "rebuild" interest in Beltre.
In fact, the A's already had a good-field, no-hit 3B that they traded to Seattle last year: Jack Hanahan. Seattle brought him in because Beltre was injured.
Beltre 's last 3 OPS's:
2007: .801 in 149 games
2008: .784 in 143 games
2009: .683 in 111 games
Figgin's last 3 OPS:
2007: .825 in 115 games
2008: .685 in 116 games
2009: .788 in 158 games
Figgins received $ 9M per year from Seattle over 4 years. His OBP component of OPS was nearly .385 vs. Beltre's .310 over those years.
