Just cannot see Holliday or Bay being worth the money that they are getting or being rumored to be getting. There are reasons that the big free agent players did not roll out the large contracts for these guys, I guess the smaller teams are overlooking the things that the big teams were worried about!

Hey get it right. Why do the fans in Beantown or NYC or Phily get to call themselves the best or second best etc. etc.. To me the most ridic boast ever, is that the Red Sox are the second best team in baseball history, because the lost to the Yankees so many times. Only morons will go with that one. Or the Sox lose so magnificantly, they are the best. Can you believe that one? In Cinti., we have only one boast.

Seth is correct. Matt should sign with the Cards @ $16+ a year for as long as he can get from them (6-8 yrs) and then be happy that he is playing in front of the maybe the best fans in baseball. Why squeeze the last bit of juice out of baseball so that Boras can prove he is the best agent. Check the testasterone at the door-sign and get ready for Spring in Florida. These guys are holding out for crazy amounts of money as the working class families pay the bills. What would Mays, Aaron, Mantle, Musial, Koufax,and Bob Gibson get in today’s marketplace? Can you say part owner!!!

I still don’t believe that the Cards are offering a guaranteed 8 years.
I’m certain that I can be proven wrong, but 5 guaranteed with vesting options and/or a buy-out at that point but a “total” of 8 years possible seems more likely.
Doesn’t make a lot of sense to increase the already best offer on the table, unless Boras is working his voodoo again…

I think the Mets should get Leo Mazzone. I also think they should sign Sheets, Bedard, Mike Jacobs and Joe Beimel.
I like Santos and Thole behind the plate with a pitching coach like Mazzone. But with Warthen, you may need a Molina type. Warthen has a long way to go to get to Mazzone status. He recently said he wants to get back into coaching.
